Group Leader – Francisco Fernandez-Trillo (Paco)
I am a Senior Lecturer in Polymer Synthesis at the School of Chemistry in the University of Birmingham. I joined the University in April 2013, as the John Evans Fellow (part of the Birmingham Fellows program), to develop Biomedical Applications of Nanotechnology. As such, I was jointly appointed between the Schools of Chemistry and the School of Pharmacy. I am the current academic lead for Health and Safety in the School of Chemistry, having previously lead the Chemistry for Healthcare Technologies Theme, and the Biomolecular, Supramolecular and Nanoscale Chemistry Unit. I am an associate member of the Institute of Microbiology and Infection and was a member of the operational team of EPSRC’s Centre for Doctoral Training “Sci-Phy-4-Health”. You can find more details about my career here.
My research interests lie at the interface between organic chemistry, polymer science and nanotechnology. We aim to develop novel functional (nano)materials that can find biomedical applications.
