Mohammed Hadis (Mo)
I am Research Fellow in Biomaterials at the School of Dentistry and in the Institute of Clinical Sciences and I’m currently doing a 6-month secondment at the School of Chemistry. My research includes the interaction of light with materials as well at the biological interface. As such my research areas cover photochemistry, photobiology and photophysics. During my secondment, I will develop novel enzyme responsive antimicrobial materials for dental applications.I graduated with a BSc (hons) in Chemistry and Pharmacology from the University of Birmingham in 2007 and went onto study a PhD in Biomaterials at the School of Dentistry. Following my graduation in 2011, I was appointed as a Research Fellow to continue his research in the development of novel biomaterials and technologies for biomedical applications. My research interests and expertise relates to biomedical applications of lights from photo-curing of composite materials to interaction of light with cells, tissue, molecules and micro-organisms. I provide key skills in the field of photonics for the development of novel technologies and currently working on projects funded by the National Institute of Health Research, The Ministry of Defence and SRMRC as well as other private investors. My research awards include the Paffenbarger Award for outstanding research and the Heraeus Kulzer Award for innovative testing design.
